Daniel McGregor - Wealth Train
Tell us about your business and where you are?
I’m based in Sale Street in the Rickards Whiteley Building and I run a locally-owned and operated independent financial advice and wealth coaching business. I help people get financially fit!
Why did you choose this type of work?
I knew the financial advice industry focused on wealthy people and wanted to offer a service aimed at the ‘Mum and Dad’ type of people on regular incomes who, with some advice, guidance and coaching, can create a fantastic financial future for themselves. I truly believe everyone has the opportunity to be wealthy, but most people are never taught how to make it happen.
Is there anything that sets you or your business apart from similar businesses?
Independence! I believe I’m the only Central West member of the Independent Financial Advisers Association of Australia. Less than 1% of advisers in Australia meet the IFAAA Gold Standard Independence™. Similar to the Heart Foundation’s ‘Tick’ which guides Australians on healthier eating choices, the IFAAA Gold Standard of Independence™ guides Australians on how to find financial advisers who practice without incentive and without conflicts of interest.
To qualify as an IFAAA Practising Member, advisers must satisfy these three criteria:
1. No ownership links or affiliations with product manufacturers.
2. No commissions or incentive payments from product manufacturers.
3. No asset-based fees.
Who would have most to gain from what you offer?
People in their 30s and 40s. This is when most of life’s major financial decisions are made, yet most people don’t seek help until they are 55 or older. My job is to make financial decision-making easier so people can be confident they are on the right track.
What would you say is the main benefit or benefits for someone who took your advice?
Financial peace of mind. The world of money is confusing and overwhelming for most people and it’s a conflicted and, at times, dodgy industry. That’s why I’m so passionate about being an independent adviser.
What would you say to someone who was in two minds about making an appointment to talk to you?
The first appointment is free, so what have you got to lose? Coming in for a chat will cost you nothing, but could make hundreds of thousands of dollars, possibly millions of dollars difference to your future!
Anything else you’d like to add?
Knowledge is power. Once you understand things, good choices follow.
