School Holiday Junior Chess Tournament

Last week the St Barnabas Anglican Church Parish Hall hosted another Junior Chess Tournament. Trophies for first, second, third and a coaching voucher was up for grabs on the day, though all in all it is designed to be a fun day for the children.

The one-day event saw over 50 juniors participating. We caught up with 9-year-old, Finn Dwyer on the day, “I play because mostly I like how you can have a chance to see how good the opponent is in using strategy. I think it’s hard, but I really enjoy seeing what can move where and what I can do, today, so far I have lost twice and got a win.”

Well done to all who took part, as you can see there was lots of concentration happening.

Editor: Isn’t it great to see kids engaged in an activity like this? Thumbs to St. Barnabas for organising it.
