Successfully applying for a grant
The sheer number of grants available in the Orange Region, for a variety of organisations and causes is amazing. The main thing to be aware of when searching for grants for your organisation is the closing date for the grant, so you don’t waste time on preparing an application that will be rejected out of hand.
There are many sources of grants including Australian and NSW Governments, Councils and local industry.
I have selected a few grants that are currently open for applications that may be of interest to local communities and businesses. This is not intended to be a comprehensive list and it is good to use a variety of search criteria to see what could be available for your particular circumstances.
Ø Cadia Community Partnership Program - aims to support and enhance the community groups, organisations and infrastructure which provide a sustainable foundation for the communities in which we operate. These grants have no closing date.
Consideration will be given to pursuing partnerships with projects which:
· Are within Cadia’s sphere of influence, i.e. the shires of Cabonne, Blayney and Orange
· Indiscriminately benefit the whole or a wide section of the local community
· Provide enduring value to the community
· Are recognised charities, disadvantaged groups, not-for-profit organisations, community or educational projects. Establish, promote or support an alternative industry which will offset the socioeconomic impacts of Cadia mine closure
· Are well supported by the local communities
· May include commercial projects.

Ø Australian Department of Communications and the Arts
Festivals Australia provides funding to support individual art projects at festivals or significant one-off community events, such as a town’s centenary celebration or opening of a major new community resource.
Festivals Australia will:
· provide access to a diverse range of high quality, innovative arts projects that grow audiences at festivals across regional Australia
· support partnerships and collaboration across the arts sector
· encourage community participation in arts projects at regional and remote festivals.
The program delivers two funding rounds each year usually opening in February and September. There is no limit to the amount of funding that may be sought for individual applications however only one project, per organisation, per festival will be funded.
Eligibility:
Funding is available for projects commencing from 1 February 2020.
To be eligible for funding, applicants must:
· be an Australian incorporated organisation*
· have an active Australian Business Number (ABN)
· be registered for the Goods and Services Tax (GST), if required by the Australian Tax Office, and
· not have any outstanding reports, acquittals or serious breaches relating to any Commonwealth funding.
Unincorporated groups are eligible for funding but must be auspiced by an organisation that meets the above criteria.
Festivals Australia does not fund projects in major cities or metropolitan locations.
Estimated Grant Value:
From $5,000.00 to $100,000.00

Ø Women NSW APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2020 NSW WOMEN’S WEEK GRANTS
The NSW Government is encouraging not-for-profit community organisations and local councils within NSW to apply for a grant to hold events and activities that celebrate women during NSW Women’s Week between 2 - 8 March 2020.
NSW Women’s Week provides local organisations with an opportunity to give back by delivering education, mentoring and participation activities that benefit local women and girls. Women across NSW make important contributions at work, in our families, communities and neighbourhoods.
Grant funding will comprise of grants of up to $5,000 each.
Events must promote at least one of the three priorities of the NSW Women’s Strategy 2018-2022, which include women’s economic opportunity and advancement, health and wellbeing, and participation and empowerment.
