Fair trading for all at Blayney Book Sale

Love a good Agatha Christie or a colourful travelogue? Then get down to the Anglican Parish Book and Trading Fair at the Christ Church Hall in Adelaide Street.

With winter on the way; now’s the time to lay-down some ripping reads for those long cold nights. The event runs on consecutive Fridays and Saturdays, April 5–6 and April 12–13, from 9.30–4.30pm.

With thousands of second-hand pre-loved works ranging from literary classics (Charles Dickens, Dostoevsky, Jane Austen, and Mark Twain) to kid’s classics (Roald Dahl and Dr Seuss to JK Rowlings); there’s some great reads for any taste.

“We’ve got a huge array of children books, in fact we’re going to have quite a sale of these to move as many as possible,” organizer Elizabeth Russ said.

A special feature of this year’s event is a sale of Australian authors and Australian works ranging from Henry Lawson to modern Australian writers and coffee-table books on the great Australian journey.

“Our best-selling works are of Australian authors and Australian actually, they sell very well,” Elizabeth explained.

Highlight of this year’s event is a trading table featuring home-made jams, pickles, spreads, sauces, and even some pot-plants.

“We’re also offering a free cuppa for people wishing to have a break,” Elizabeth said. The four-day event is the main fund-raiser for the Blayney Anglican Parish which serves a disparate group of small local historical churches covering villages including Lucknow, Millthorpe, Barry, Carcoar and Mandurama.
