Love Your Bookshop- MORE
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go”- Dr Seuss
On Saturday August 10, ‘Love your Bookstore’ will be celebrated Nation-wide and our local bookstore’s, Pilgrim Books and Collins Booksellers are again, getting involved and ready to be shown a whole lot of love from the community.
“I think books can change people’s lives, Manager of Pilgrim Books, Jeff Townsend explained, “They are one of those tactile things which isn’t too expensive to hold in your hand and you can spend hours/days, just drinking in the content and thinking, dwelling where you are in your own life. The Love Your Bookstore initiative is a good opportunity to have a bit of a sale and have a bit of fun celebrating books!”
Avid book reader, Tori Evans said, “Once I pick up a book, I usually don’t put them down until they are finished. You can immerse yourself into a world that isn’t reality and check out for a while... it’s relaxing.”
“It’s nice to do something different in the shop and also to remind people that we are here,” added Collins Booksellers, Store Owner Phillip Schwebel. “I also think it’s important for our young ones, that they get the confidence to pick up a book, turn the pages and read the books – that they know what they are doing. The variety and quality of books now-a-days is just amazing, especially for kids, I find there are so many good Authors out there.”
“There are books on absolutely everything these days, and there is a book out there for everyone, no matter what level they are at or what interest they have.”
Collins Bookstore will be donating a portion of sales from the day to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
Pop into both stores to check out the activities the stores are hosting for the day, including colouring in competitions and special offers. It’s amazing what a book can do for your soul, so.. what are you waiting for? Give our bookstores some love this weekend!
