City of Orange Veterans Golf Classic 2020

Next month Veteran golfers across Australia will converge on Orange for the 23rd year of the City of Orange Veterans Golf Classic.

Beginning March 2nd, Orange's three golf courses will host around 200 players in the tournament, which is said to be one of the most unique veterans golf competitions in the state.

Golfers from over 60 clubs and from as far afield as Mt Coolum in QLD and Nowra on the south coast will participate in the Classic over 54 holes. Clubs supplying the highest number of players include; Wentworth, Kiama, Kareela, Orange Ex-Services and Nelson Bay.

Mike Jackson from Foster Tuncurry, winner of the 54 Hole Scratch event in 2019 is unable to participate this year, leaving the field open for other low markers. There are 12 players in the Men's competition with single figure handicaps this year.

Nola Maughan (17) from Kareela who won the women's 54 hole A Grade event in 2019 will be returning to defend her title. The lowest marker for the ladies this year is Nicole Bruce (10) from Lismore.

Orange Ex Services Club will host an awards presentation as well as a dinner and dance on Thursday 5th March.

The men will kick off at Duntryleague, Ex-Services Country Club and Wentworth on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday March 2nd, 3rd and 5th respectively.

Women golfers will play at Ex-Services Country Club on day one, then Wentworth and Duntryleague on days two and three respectively.

On March 6th there will be an 18-hole 4BBB medley stableford. This event will be held at Duntryleague and Wentworth to complete the week's events.
