Come visit Canowindra – the Bowlo to be precise

Live music continues in Canowindra at the Bowlo with special guest Daphne Brooks singing the night away on February 3 from 3-6pm.

When someone in an audience describes the singer as “a voice of an angel” then you know you are in for a treat. Listening to Daphne Brooks sing the Dolly Parton hit ‘Jolene’, shivers run down your spine.

When speaking of musical inspirations Daphne says, “along the way I have had many inspirations and musicians I look up to, including Jess Holland who helped me really learn to play guitar and to get out there and perform. There are so many talented musicians in regional Australia, and they are my true inspiration more so than big name artists.

“I have always loved music, when I think back to my childhood some of my favourite memories are of my dad turning up his music on the record player. I took various music lessons as a child however I was notorious for being the student who didn't practise. That was until I started singing and my scary singing teacher wouldn't take no for an answer”.

When asked about coming to Canowindra from her home town of Gulgong to perform at the Sunday Session in front of her family who are part of the local community she said, “I love living in a small town and have found it to be so encouraging musically, there is a regular folk night that happens at one of the pubs in town and right from the start that group of musicians have been so helpful and welcoming. This attitude to me sums up the benefits to living in smaller towns, you're not just an anonymous stranger - everyone knows everyone and is willing to pitch in and help when the need is there”.

The Sunday sessions at The Bowlo are proud to be presenting Daphne Brooks with her performance starting at 3pm on Sunday 3rd February.

Supporting the local community and alongside the music the Sunday Session runs activities for the young kids with ‘Abbey’s Babysitting in Canowindra’ taking charge plus the monthly ‘surf & turf’ raffle from local butcher Muzzy’s Quality Meats and award winning Windowrie Wines. Sponsor Pioneer Brewing Co will have another beer on tap and every schooner you purchase goes back into supporting the Sunday Sessions.
