Luminosity Lights Up the Night once more

Orange Luminosity is back for one last time!

The 2017 inclusive arts and education program brought together people of all abilities for three months of workshops in art, music and dance, culminating in a lantern festival and multimedia spectacular.

“It was bigger than Ben Hur,” said festival coordinator, Suzi Welch, who has planned one last celebration of the event.

Following the 2017 festival, Suzi brought together a number of the participants to record the song “Light up the Night”, which was specially written for Luminosity by Abby Smith, better known as part of Smith and Jones.

“Last year I got a lot of the participants into the studio and we recorded the song and got a film clip to go with it. We are actually going launch it as a single on April 27th,” said Suzi.

“We got all these people together: people with disability, people without disability, people who are artists and musicians, people from different cultures… It was absolutely fantastic; when people are all working together towards a common goal, they forget about their differences and they notice what they have in common.”

The “Light up the Night” single will be officially launched at Cafe Connect, 3-5pm Saturday 27 April.

Suzi is hoping to get as many of the original participants back to help perform on the day.

“I would like to extend the invitation to anyone in the community who wants to be part of an Inclusive Singing Workshop with Abby Smith to register on Eventbrite and be at Café Connect at 2pm,” she said.
