Fireside Reads: Orange Readers and Writers Festival 2019

In 2019 the Orange Readers and Writer’s Festival has partnered with the 2nd Annual Orange Winter Fire Festival, adding to a weekend packed full fantastic events from our region’s award-winning wineries, restaurants and regional villages.

Over three days, August 1-3, five inspiring authors – Debra Adelaide, Meg Keneally, Tim Ayliffe, Summer Land and Felicity McLean will be on hand to talk about their latest works and answer your questions.

In the lead up to Saturday’s Festival main event, people can choose between two hands on workshops.

Louise Darmody and Andrew Host will explain the importance of oral history, demonstrate use of equipment and suitable recording environments, teach pre-interviewing and interviewing skills as well as best practice protocols and copyright.

While for the keen family historian, Associate Professor Tanya Evans will lead an interactive workshop to discuss your work on family history, local history, memory and material culture.

Local author and historian Elisabeth Edwards will join her to discuss her own family history research and her most recent book on the prominent Orange Dalton family.

The main Festival event will be held on Saturday 3 August from 10am to 3.30pm upstairs at the Hotel Canobolas. Hear from all five guest authors as well as Kiara Harris talking about the Year of Indigenous Languages, and the announcement of the 2019 Banjo Paterson Writing Award winners.

Early bird tickets are now on sale for $80 pp until Sunday 7 July then go to $90 until Monday 29 July.

Tickets for the Festival can be purchased online via Eventbrite.com, Central West Libraries website www.cwl.nsw.gov.au or call Orange City Library on 6393 8132.
