Orange will get its first taste of an innovative two-day punk and metal music event when “The Gig” comes to town this weekend!

The two-day festival - this Friday and Saturday, September 4-5, at the Agriculture Pavilion at Orange Showground- is a celebration of Australia’s punk and metal music scene, with local and emerging musicians set to share the stage with internationally recognised bands.

Artists from Melbourne, Sydney, Taree and Tasmania will perform, along with home-grown talent including Dubbo’s Whisperhead, Orange’s Stone Sovereign and Where’s Jimmy, a band formed by a group of Kinross-Wolaroi School alumni.

Friday night will be headlined by Tasmanian band Luca Brasi, who had an ARIA top-10 hit with their 2021 album 'Everything Is Tenuous'. Melbourne-based Windwaker will headline Saturday night, playing songs with more than six million streams on Spotify.

The Gig will give developing local artists a chance to showcase their music, after organisers received submissions from school-based bands across the region.

The festival is organised by Orange-based event management firm, CCT Productions, which said the event will attract 1000 attendees across both nights, providing a welcome boost to Orange’s tourism economy, especially following the closure of the Great Western Highway earlier in the year.
