Unbowed by our somewhat sombre economic times, local lad Adam Skrinnikoff represents the entrepreneurial can-do spirit that made Australia great!

Currently running his own window and gutter cleaning and pressure washing operation – Central West Property Services – the Colour City born-and-bred teenager has started small but has big plans for the future.

In fact, the former Orange Christian School student's "origin story" sounds like that for one of the great business builders of the 20th century.

"I was at home after finishing school and thinking about what I wanted to do, my father had a pressure cleaner, so I went round the neighbourhood offering to clean people's houses and driveways," Adam tells Orange City Life.

"I then did up some cards, bought some more equipment and, through word-of-mouth, that's how I started," he adds.

While many of today's teenagers seem happy enough to spend their free time on social media or battling dragons and assassins in online games, Adam always enjoyed the benefits of earning an income from a young age.

"I've been working since I was 14 – McDonald's, a local café, JB Hi-Fi, 7-Eleven – and helping another friend run a business where I packed the orders and sent them out.

"I'm 18 now and am ambitious; I want to achieve a number of goals," Adam enthuses.

In the business now for about five months, he already offers a top service, emphasising quality over speed and cost.

"I have high standards and am building my business on trust; I try to always provide a good job," Adam explains.

"My main priority is customer satisfaction… I have a good eye and a good technique with everything I do."

He says with winter on the way out, now is the perfect occasion to get your windows, driveways, and gutters shipshape and Bristol fashion for the warmer weather ahead.

"My most popular service is the gutter cleaning, and it's a good time to get this done before spring," Adam argues.

It's also a great time to get pressure washing done for any of your hard surfaces."

With business booming, he's now looking to expand the skills he offers… as his finances allow.

"I'm gradually buying more equipment as I go along; I just bought a professional-standard ladder to get to higher sites on houses," Adam says.

"I also want to move into roof and solar panel cleaning, and carpet cleaning too; I'm always looking to grow," he concludes.
