Would you like to go behind the scenes at one of Australia's largest underground mining operations? Newmont Cadia is inviting the Central West community to take part in their 2026 Open Day on Sunday, 8 November, with tickets now on sale.
Guided bus tours will operate from the Millthorpe Museum to Cadia, providing attendees with the opportunity to see some of Newmont’s largest mining equipment, visit the heavy vehicle workshop, learn how gold and copper are processed in the mill, and experience a short walk underground at the Ridgeway mine.
Newmont Cadia General Manager Lori Douglas said the Open Day is a family-friendly event that offers the Central West community an opportunity to gain insight into how modern mining operations work.
“The Cadia Open Day enables us to welcome our community onsite and showcase the people, technology, and processes that support our operations every day," Ms Douglas said.
“We’re proud to be part of the local community and value the opportunity for our teams to share their workplace with family and friends, while showcasing how we operate safely and responsibly."
All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Millthorpe Museum, helping preserve and share the region's rich history.
A Schools Open Day will also be held on Monday, 9 November, giving local students an opportunity to learn about the diverse career pathways available across the mining industry.
Due to expected demand, community members are encouraged to secure tickets early at www.cadiaopenday.com.au
