At the October meeting of Orange Evening VIEW Club, Glenys Grimmet was awarded a Service Pin for 50 years of service to VIEW Clubs, Australia and The Smith family.

Glenys came to Orange as a member of Mudgee VIEW Club and found there was a Day VIEW Club in Orange but no evening club for working women to attend.

In 1981, with her friend, Jenny Taylor, Glenys instigated an Evening View Club. At a later date she was also crucial in the opening of Mountain Evening VIEW.

During those fifty years of membership, Glenys has held the positions of President of the local club, National Councillor and National Vice President, travelling all over Australia to further the work of VIEW and The Smith family.

Over the years, the three clubs have melded into just the Evening club – now 44 years in existence, still working for The Smith Family, helping to ease children and families out of poverty through their Learning for Life programme in schools.
