Motorists travelling through Parkes are being advised of changed traffic conditions at the Condobolin Road roundabout from Monday, June 2, as work begins on installing a major new sculpture.

Transport for NSW says a 100-tonne crane will be brought in to lift into place the elements of the “Halo” sculpture – including columns, a frame, decorative panels and a 12-metre flagpole – which will form a striking centrepiece to the 98-metre roundabout, the largest in the Central West.

Installation work will take place between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday, and from 8am to 6pm on Saturdays. The process is expected to take up to four weeks, weather permitting.

During these hours, motorists can expect temporary lane closures, reduced speed limits and intermittent stopping, which may impact travel times. Drivers are urged to follow traffic control and variable message signs in place.

The roundabout at Condobolin Road is a key feature of the Parkes Bypass, designed to accommodate B-Doubles and maintain highway speeds of 80 km/h, while providing efficient access to Parkes township.

Transport for NSW, in partnership with Parkes Shire Council, is delivering the sculpture as a welcoming entry statement for visitors to Parkes. The agency thanks motorists for their patience while this important work is carried out.
