Round One of the Western Premiership rugby league competition got underway in Orange on Sunday, April 19, with the Orange Hawks hosting the Mudgee Dragons at Waratah Sports Ground. The day went to the visitors who defeated Orange in all three grades. Final scores were: Under 18’s Mudgee 18 - Orange 12; Reserve grade Mudgee 26 - Orange 6; and First Grade Mudgee 32 - Orange 10.
