Scouts get ready for “The Shed”

For the past four years, at this time of year 2nd Orange Scout Group band together and create a raffle to raise money for a highly anticipated storage shed which is set to get started next week, hoping to be finished by the end of January. The raffle winner-  won $500 worth of Woolworths gift cards.

Scout Group Leader, Bob Hoye said, “Woolworths had kindly donated $150 worth of gift cards, we thank Woolworths and everyone who supported the raffle, we probably sold 2,000 tickets so we were extremely happy.”

Bob has been involved with Scouts for 21 years and says watching the kids , grow, get some confidence, and get outside of their comfort zone that makes it all worthwhile.

Raffle winner, Cameron Taylor said “I was involved with Scouts when I was younger, and have always thought they do a good job, it has come at a great time and will help a lot over Christmas, it includes Big W, Woolworths and BWS.

Chairman of the Group Support Committee, 2nd Orange Scout Group, Geoff Metcale added, “This moment has been a long time coming and this is our opportunity to consolidate all of our gear into one place instead of having it spread-out all-over town. It’s bigger than most people realise for us, we have worked very had to get to this stage, we are so excited to be finally getting ‘The Shed’ as we call it.

With 70 youth members aged between 5-26 years, the 2nd Orange Scout group are involved with traditional outdoor activities developing team work and getting involved within the community.
