The Thumbs Awards!

It’s awards time in Orange this week with many local businesses gathering over dinner this Saturday night to hear who will win the top awards in this year’s Orange Ex-Services Club Business Awards. Sadly, Orange City Life didn’t make the cut, possibly because we never entered, and because nobody nominated us.

No worries, extra Good Luck to those who are in the running!

To add to the Award spirit, we decided to announce our own awards this week – we call them The Thumbs Awards.

The method we used to determine the winners was a bit old-fashioned by modern standards. I had April, our Director of First Impressions, go through the last 12 months issues of OC Life to see who got the most Thumbs up from readers. Please appreciate the time and effort it took for April to do this. Such dedication and commitment had to be seen to be believed!
My idea was to list say the ten who received the most Thumbs up. Interestingly, when we did the numbers it wasn’t that clear cut, it turned out we couldn’t separate a number of businesses for 5th spot. What the heck, let’s mention them all anyway I thought.

So, it is with great pleasure and little fanfare that I announce The 2019 Thumbs Awards, as decided by readers of OC Life between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019 –

1st – Bunnings.

2nd – IGA Peisley Street.

3rd – Lowes Menswear and Blooms Chemist.

4th – Summer Street Vet, Officeworks, Harvey Norman and Tates Plumbing Plus.

5th – Cincotta Pharmacy, Supercheap Auto, Absolute Auto Body Works, Orange Vet Hospital, Autobarn, Café Latte, Coles, Liquorland, Darren Barrett Automotive, Bella’s Bistro, Mitre 10, Gracie Burger, 2 Fat Ladies, Venue Café, Canobolas Vets, Tyre Power, Coco’s, Need a Nerd.

Congratulations to all our winners!

To each of the winners, your prize is threefold -

1)     Knowing that your efforts have been appreciated and noticed by an adoring public.

2)     Getting the chance to continue the good work again into the coming year and defending your title again.

Seeing your name in Orange’s favourite community magazine.
