Lara O'Brien - People of O-Town

I’m 16 and I'm from Quambone, which is four hours away. I've been boarding here in Orange since Year Seven and I’m now in Year Ten, so four years.

I live on a farm in Quambone, so I'm an outdoorsy type of person and I love going for walks and all that type of stuff.

I'm very keen about the environment and climate change, which is why I got involved in the Global Climate Strike. I even brought my dog Jess here and she's got a little 'Do it for me' sign around her neck.

I hope to make change and I hope we can see a reverse to the devastating effects of climate change. It is my future and I guess the tangibility of my future depends on the reversing of climate change. If it doesn't get reversed, then there’s a chance I probably won’t live much further past my mum's age.

I just want to point out to adults that the reason this is largely a kid’s movement is that it is moreso our future than theirs. A lot of our teachers, our parents, they aren't going to be around to see the most devastating effects of climate change, but we will be!

So, do it for the future generations and help people like me who are alive right now and trying to make change!
