A land of drought and flooding rains…

What a difference 12 months can make!
The relentless dust storms and bushfires that plagued us last spring and summer seem so far away, especially given the global events that have overtaken 2020.

But the good news (and we can all use more good news this year) is that the recovery from drought continues, with well above average rain received across most of NSW and more on the way.

The NSW DPI Combined Drought Indicator (CDI) shows 88 per cent of NSW is now in the Non-Drought or Recovery categories compared to just 0.6 per cent last year.

Orange has recorded more than 993mm of rain already this calendar year, which is well above average and more than double what had been recorded at the same time last year.

And the official climate outlook from the Bureau of Meteorology shows moderate to high probabilities of above-median rainfall across the state for the next three months. In fact, there is a 70 per cent chance of greater than average rainfall across most of Australia.
