2020 has been a difficult year for so many, in so many ways.

To give a little back to those in need the Orange Ex-Services’ Club board, management and staff of have banded together to encourage club members and the public at large, to donate a gift this year to the Christmas Wishing Tree.

All the presents under the Christmas Wishing Tree, located in the front foyer of Club, are part of a Christmas present and hamper drive for the Salvation Army who deliver them to local families in need.

This year, Orange Ex-Services’ Club has donated over $750 gifts for the Christmas appeal. Add to this the staff and member donations, and it equates to a lot of presents for children in need.

“Each year, at Christmas time, there are many families in Orange that need some assistance in various ways,”said President of the Orange Ex-Services’ Club, Graham Gentles.

“The Salvation Army does remarkable work in our Community every day and the Orange Ex-Services’ Club are proud to support the Community through the Salvation Army, in giving to families in need.”

The Christmas Wishing Tree itself was hand crafted by the Knitting and Crotchet Club, who undertook the project as part of an initiative to keep connected to each other, although each of the members remained distanced, due to COVID-19 restrictions

The Orange Men’s Shed were engaged to build the frame and once that was completed, the Knitting and Crotchet Club were able to attach the individual hand knitted pieces, one at a time.

If anyone would like to donate a gift this year, please drop off a present to the Orange Ex-Services’ Club no later than Tuesday 15th December 2020.
