March 6-8: Central West Caravan, Camping and Outdoor Expo

A huge range of caravans, camper trailers, 4WD accessories, camping and fishing gear and loads of new release product as well as expert advice on holiday destinations. Australian National Field Day Site, Borenore 9am-4pm.

March 6: Let it Rain: Drought Relief Fundraiser

A musical drought fundraiser held at the Orange Ex-Services Club featuring Robbie Mortimer, Kyle and Holly Manning, Gabe Middleton and Mal Keys, Emerson Miller, Amy Viola, Pat and Kelly O’Donnell, Melissa Stanford and Catherine Litchfield, Cecilia and Rocky Rochelli, Will and Andrew Ferguson, Matt Arthur and Hughie Brown, and Barry Patterson. All money raised will be distributed to farmers in the Central West.

March 7: Markets On The Lawn

An initiative of the Orange Uniting, the market days feature a selection of creative arts, crafts, food and handmade stalls. Anson Street near corner with Summer Street 8:30am to 1:30pm.

March 7: Rhapsody in Orange - Combined Bands Concert

Three Wind & Brass Bands Join Forces! The Orange Regional Conservatorium's Symphonic Wind Ensemble, City of Orange Brass Band and Leichhardt Celebrity Brass combine to present what will be one of the standout band events of the year. Orange Regional Conservatorium from 6.30pm. Tickets at Eventbrite.

March 7: 4 on the 4loor

Live rock and roll at the Victoria Hotel from 8.30pm/ Come and join Steve Sommerville, new local band Where’s Jimmy, Sydney’s Simple Stone and the return of Girls on Sake.

March 7: Summer Sounds at The Greenhouse of Orange

Come and enjoy Summer Sounds at The Greenhouse of Orange with local artists, special guests, bands and late-night DJs every Saturday. This week: Splittah from 9.30pm!

March 10: Grace Under Pressure

Based on hours of in-depth interviews with doctors and nurses about their experiences of training and working in hospitals, Grace Under Pressure is a surprising, intimate, and deeply moving theatre experience that reveals these hidden stories of health professionals in their own words. Ranging from wildly funny to utterly heartbreaking, the stories within Grace Under Pressure will leave no audience member unaffected. March 11: Jam Orange Open Mic

Hosted by Jam Orange it is the monthly Open Mic. Open to all performers. Orange Waratahs Sports Club from 7.30pm.

March 12: H.M.S. Pinafore

Set sail on the high seas with Gilbert & Sullivan’s beloved comedy of star-crossed lovers, mismatched marriages and mistaken identities. Award winning director, Kate Gaul, makes her Hayes Theatre Co debut with this re-imagined, gender-bending, hyper-theatrical and kinky take on this Gilbert & Sullivan classic. March 27 – 5 April Orange F.O.O.D Week

Orange F.O.O.D Week kicks off on March 27 with the iconic Night Market, featuring stall representing the Orange region's chefs, cooks, caterers, providores, wine, cider and beer makers, with a focus on the provenance of our local produce.

EXHIBITIONS

Salvatore Zofrea: Days of Summer

In 2012, Salvatore Zofrea donated a complete edition from his Days of Summer woodblock series to Orange Regional Gallery. This selection from the original donation of 40 prints presents an extraordinary celebration of flora and fauna in Australia over the summer season.

Collection Highlights

Orange Regional Gallery presents some iconic and well-loved works in the Gallery’s collection alongside recent acquisitions. Works have been selected from the Mary Turner and Chroma collections as well as from the general collection.

The installation features paintings and drawings by Modern artists including Grace Cossington Smith, Ian Fairweather, and Brett Whiteley alongside works by contemporary artists such as Kevin Connor, Harrie Fasher, Emily Kngwarreye, Margaret Loy Pula, Luke Sciberras​ and David Serisier.

8x10 Group Exhibition

Annual event at The Corner Store Gallery featuring works of any medium or subject matter that measure 8x10 inches. Until 4pm, 7 March.

Orange Art Society featuring Hank Spirek

Members of the Orange Art Society have been throwing paint at canvas with great vigour this past month and their efforts are on display until April 10.  This month’s feature artist Hank Spirek’s exhibition will focus on a variety of ‘bird motif’ works executed in oil on canvas and mixed mediums on paper. Birds, executed in various styles, have been a favourite and popular topic of Hank’s art throughout his 50-year career. The exhibition is now open to the public at the Orange Cultural Centre. Hank will hold an official exhibition opening on March 14 from 2-4pm.
