Tomorrow night join local artist David King for the launch of his first solo exhibition in Orange.

David, who mainly works with charcoal, will exhibiting all weekend at the stunning Borrodell Sky Bar.

A carpenter by day, David and his team actually built the new addition at Borrodell.

“That's why they are letting me use the facility for this, which is very nice of them,” said David, although it is not the first time he has had a hand in creating his own art venue.

“Yeah, I did a renovation of a place in Sydney and then did an exhibition upstairs, so it is starting to seem like a bit of a theme!”

David and his family relocated to Orange almost four years ago. Art has always been a passion for David who manages to find time for it despite the pressures of having a young family.

“I've always just done art on the side and I just enjoy doing it and pushing myself in that area,” he said.

“My dad is an art teacher so I guess I just grew up around it a bit rubbed off… but it is a side thing. I've had two kids since moving to Orange so most of my art is late night sessions; everybody goes to bed and I stay up and do some drawing.”

David has previously exhibited work at the Corner Store Gallery and had an entry accepted into the Orange Regional Gallery’s HERE/NOW exhibition.

His solo exhibition at Borrodell opens Friday 6pm to 8.30pm and will be open 9am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
