Newcrest is providing a total of $300,000 in grants to help kick-start charities, not-for-profit organisations and associations who have seen a substantial drop in fundraising revenue due to the pandemic. The initiative is part of the Newcrest Community Support Fund established to assist host communities with the challenges associated with COVID-19.

The program, which is being run by Central NSW Business HQ will provide grant assistance of up to $5,000. Interested organisations will need to complete an expression of interest form, before meeting with a business advisor to discuss how they can adapt their existing fundraising opportunities and identify new and innovative ways to raise funds in a COVID-safe way.

The program has been launched off the back of the success of the Newcrest Business Beyond the Curve Program which delivered a $500,000 investment into the local business community, with over 100 businesses from Orange, Blayney and Cabonne receiving financial assistance and business advice.

Central West NSW Business HQ Chief Executive Officer, Wayne Sunderland said the program would have a valuable impact on the local community.

“Many of these groups are the backbone of the local community and provide valuable services and amenities across Orange, Blayney and Cabonne.”

“Community organisations have seen a significant drop in revenue due to their inability to fundraise over the past 12 months and this program will provide them with a great starting point to begin their recovery,” Wayne said.

Cadia’s General Manager, Aaron Brannigan said the need to assist charities, not-for-profit organisations and associations was vital.

“When our Business Beyond the Curve program was being delivered, there were numerous organisations who were in need of assistance who didn’t qualify under the program and we recognised how important it was to support these groups during these difficult times.

“With fundraising the major source of income for numerous community organisations, they have been hit hard throughout the pandemic with many traditional methods of fundraising no longer being able to continue. As well as providing financial assistance the program will help organisations identify creative and new ways to raise funds in a COVID-safe environment ensuring they remain sustainable in the future,” Aaron said.

Expressions of interest are open until 30 April 2021. Charities, not-for-profit organisations, and associations in the Orange, Blayney and Cabonne local government areas can apply.
