Now’s the time to get computer cleaned-up

Top-shelf techie, Tim Duggan, says now is the time to get your computer cleaned-up for a new working year.

Owner of computer sales and repair business, “My Tech Mate”, Tim believes that — after being given a real work-over during the holidays — the start of the new school year should see your computer running at top-efficiency.

“It definitely is, they’re normally getting a lot more use over the Christmas break and the New Year with the kids at home, it’s a really good time to get them serviced.

“It’s also the hot weather, the fans can become clogged with dust; all computers are designed to operate at their optimum performance when the fans are operating efficiently,” Tim said.

Entering their second-year in the Colour City at their 115 Peisley Street shopfront (opposite the Railway Station carpark), business is picking-up as we all look to get back to work, he said.

“People are now coming back from holidays, the kids are going back to school, and it’s that time that you want to have one of your most important pieces of office equipment operating as best as it can,” Tim added.

You don’t have to wait weeks to get this vital maintenance done either. Fast turn-around times are another feature of My Tech Mate.

“Absolutely, that is something that we really pride ourselves on, getting your gear back to you in a couple of days,” Tim said.

My Tech Mate have also expanded their range of best-on-the-market computer gear. “We’re now selling laptops, mobile phones, and desk-top computers along with all accessories.”

Opening of “My Tech Mate” in July last came as a genuine relief to Orange’s long-suffering phone, tablet, PC and Mac users. Lucky for us, Tim likes country living though.

Originally from Campbelltown in western Sydney, he has more than a decade’s experience with a major retail chain, before deciding to spread his wings and start his own business venture helping keep locals logged-on and in-range in Orange and surrounds.

“I grew-up in Campbelltown and moved up here in 2015. I love the country life, this is where my wife and I want to raise our kids,” he enthused.

“In simple terms, we supply and repair mobile phones, tablets, PC’s, and Mac’s. Anything in that field, then come to us.

“Our big difference is customer service; This is a real need that I saw in the local community. I spent 15 years in the IT industry and saw a need locally for a different type of business,” he added.

Another string to Tim’s bow is coaching sessions for those who want to get a lot more familiar with computers.

“One thing that has started to be popular is our one-on-one coaching sessions for customers. A man came in the other day, and he bought a new phone, and the training session was how to add a contact in and send a message.

“Teaching people how to open a Facebook video call and talk to their families is very rewarding for us, it’s a very cool thing to do,” he added.

My Tech Mate is open Monday to Friday, 9–5pm and Saturdays, 9–12 noon. 115 Peisley Street nearly opposite the exit for Orange Railway Station. Ph: 6341 2605, online: mytechmate.com.au
