On The Road to Laurel Canyon…

The Road to Laurel Canyon is an exciting new live music performance exploring the iconic artist and music of the legendary counterculture music of the Hollywood Hills during the late 1960s and early 70s.

Presented by Wild Things Run, the talented local trio featuring the virtuoso skills and vocal harmonies of Pat, Andy and Kellie O’Donnell, The Road to Laurel Canyon pays tribute to the musical legends of the period such as James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Crosby Stills & Nash, Carole King, Neil Young, The Mamas & The Papas, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Harry Nilsson and others who shaped this extraordinary era of music.

“Laurel Canyon was this suburb just full of amazing people, like The Doors, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, the Mummas & the Pappas and even actors like Peter Fonda,” says Pat O’Donnell of Wild Things Run.

“We just thought it was a great opportunity to do a review of that interesting era — around ‘67 to ‘73, is what we're trying to cover.”

The 90-minute show faithfully interprets all the great songs, including “Ventura Highway” “You’ve Got A Friend”, “Witchy Woman”, “Big Yellow Taxi”, “Love the One You’re With”, “Angel from Montgomery”, “Without You”, “Natural Woman” and many more.

“The band, we like to sing in harmony. Kelly, my wife in the middle and then me and my brother Andy… We keep it very simple and stripped back. So it's not really a big band performance with this, it's based around harmony, earthy singing, and we're just really enjoying it!”

Experience The Road to Laurel Canyon at the Orange Civic Theatre on Friday, November 24, 7.30pm before Wild Things Run take the show on tour.
