“I’ve always been in hospitality, I was manager of the Blayney Bowling Club for 13 years, Orange City Bowling Club for 10 years and the wife and I had the Restaurant ‘Scotty’s on Summer’ for seven years, so I’ve had the opportunity to meet a lot of locals over time.

I’ve lived in Orange for 28 years, spending 13 years in Blayney. Orange is a lovely town; I’m a very keen gardener, I love getting out into it but it’s too hot at the moment, but I think everyone is in the same boat, we need more rain.

These days I’m a volunteer driver for LiveBetter three days a week and one day a week for the Cancer Council, it’s better than sitting at home doing nothing. There’s only so much you can do at home and this keeps me out of mischief.

I average about 350-400kms a week, and have been to Sydney half a dozen times; sometimes it can be an eight -hour day.

I enjoy the aspect of volunteering because I get to meet to many different people and help them, it’s really rewarding and it’s nice to see the regulars on Tuesday and Thursdays.”
