Find the footy and win five ticket to Panthers’ Bathurst match

Want to watch the mighty Panthers play in Bathurst with your family or friends? Find the footy in this week’s Orange City Life!

Penrith Panthers head back to their “second home” at Bathurst’s Carrington Park for a top-of-the-table NRL clash against the Newcastle Knights on Saturday, March 26.

Local footy fans have two reasons to celebrate — this is the first time that the Panthers will play at Bathurst as the defending NRL champions, and you and four others could be there thanks to five free tickets from Orange City Life.

We have five general admission tickets for the game to give away to one lucky winner, courtesy of Bathurst City Council, and all you have to do is, “find our footy”.

Somewhere in this current issue, March 3, and the issue of Thursday, March 10, you’ll find a football hidden in the paper. Just spot which page has the ball, and let us know by email: reception@oclife.com.au or write your entry on an envelope and drop into our office before Monday, March 14.

We’ll be drawing the winner out of the hat on Tuesday, March 15, and will then notify the winner that they’re going to the ball game.

You’ll get the chance to watch NRL superstars including Penrith captain Nathan Cleary; the Churchill Medal Winner in last year’s thrilling 14–12 grand final victory over the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Other stars on display will include Dubbo boy and NSW State of Origin back-rower, Isaah Yeo; pocket-rocket winger, Brian To'o; wrecking ball James Fisher-Harris; and NSW five-eight, Jarome Luai.

The Newcastle Knights, who finished the regular 2021 season with a credible seventh-spot finish, will also have some real rugby league firepower on display.

This starts with Queensland’s star State-of-Origin fullback in Kalyn Ponga, fellow Queenslander Dane Gagai; monster running forward, Tyson Frizell; and bullocking centre, Bradman Best.

The Bathurst game is now in its ninth season with Panthers annual bush clash allowing football fans west of the mountains to see the unique intensity of a real NRL game up-close on a traditional rectangular field where the fans can almost reach out and touch the players.

The round-three blockbuster will offer an early taste of how the Panthers, still a young side although they have been the dominant NRL team for the last two seasons; look to defend their title.

The Panthers have made a concerted effort to make Bathurst their second home, running a range of promotional events and training clinics for local kids dreaming of being an NRL star.

This year’s junior’s training event is on Thursday, March 24 from 4-5.30pm at George Park, 189 Browning Street, Bathurst where local kids can brush up on their NRL skills at the “Play Like a Panther Super Clinic” sponsored by Reliance Bank.

The club also runs the Bathurst Panthers League’s Club in Piper Street that this year also hosts “The Bathurst Panthers Sportsman’s Dinner” on Friday, March 25 which includes a three-course meal and question-and-answer sessions with Panther’s premiership-winning coach, Ivan Cleary; Panthers co-captains, Nathan Cleary and Isaah Yeo; and guest-speaker National Rugby League CEO, Andrew Abdo.

The match, which often draws upwards of 8000 footy fans, is sponsored by Bathurst Regional Council and NDIS provider, Live Better.
