Orange Netball Association (ONA) representative teams have been busy recently with four sides having top-four finishes in various representative tournaments.

The ONA fielded two teams in West Central West Division One Netball NSW Regional League Competition at Orange PCYC on March 29 and 30.

The West Central West Regional League is the premier regional netball competition in this area and where the most talented netballers, coaches, and umpires, in the West Central West showcase their skills.

Orange One (comprising opens players) topped the ladder at the end of the round robin competition following six wins, one draw, and one loss.

The Orange One side defeated Mudgee District One twice (18-14) and (23-13) and also won the Orange derby twice (17-14) and (23-19). Orange One also beat Dubbo One (16-15) and also lost to that side (17-13), while Orange One defeated Bathurst One (24-19) once and also had a draw against Bathurst One (16-all).

Orange Two (comprising under-17s) was third at the end of the round robin competition following five wins and three losses.

Aside from the two close losses to Orange One, Orange Two defeated Mudgee District One twice (28-9) and (27-7), Bathurst One twice (18-15) and (26-16) and split their matches with Dubbo One, winning the first round robin match 22-9 before losing the second 21-18.

Both teams played close matches in the semi-finals on Sunday afternoon but did not progress any further in the competition.

Orange One lost to Bathurst One (23-17) and Orange Two lost to Dubbo One (26-23).

Three umpires also represented Orange Netball Association at West Central West Netball NSW Regional League Competition.

Mikaela Robinson’s exceptional umpiring performance over the weekend resulted in her being selected to umpire the Division One West Central West grand final.

Meanwhile, Orange’s under-15 and under-14 representative sides travelled to Penrith to compete at the Penrith Netball Association representative carnival on Sunday, March 30.

Orange’s under-14s came second out of eight teams competing in their division (red), with six wins and only one loss.

The Orange under-14s defeated Southern Highlands (10-5), Westlakes (12-5), Inner West (11-6), Blue Mountains (13-7), Canberra (15-5) and Bathurst (7-3), losing only against Hills State by one goal (11-10).
